PADI Instructor Development Course (IDCs) prepare candidates for work
as Assistant Instructors and PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors. Candidates form their
Instructor level dive theory knowledge, model level water and rescue skills, and leadership skills, learning how to teach in confined water, classroom and open water. During the IDC, instructor candidates gain a complete understanding of the PADI educational goals and philosophy.
Once certified as a PADI Instructor you will be authorized to teach the full range of PADI courses, from Discover Scuba Diving to Divemaster, teach the specialty of Buoyancy Control (Peak Performance Buoyancy), teach the Project AWARE-Coral Reef Conservation, teach the Project AWARE.
COURSE STRUCTURE:
2 options:
1-The complete IDC for Divemasters or equivalent.
2-The OWSI for PADI Assistant Instructors or for diving instructors from other organizations.
2 phases:
1-Training phase, which consists of the Instructor Development Course, be it the IDC or the OWSI.
2-Evaluation phase, composed of the Instructors Exam (IE).
DURATION: IDC Minimum 10 days, OWSI Minimum 6 days (in addition to the exam days).
REQUIREMENTS: FOR THE IDC: Medical certificate, Divemaster or equivalent title, recognized CPR and First Aid course in the last 24 months, Minimum 100 open water dives.
MINIMUM AGE: 18 years old.
